Lynn G. Kuykendall, partner of Caplan and Earnest LLC announced his retirement as of December 31, 2009. During his 37 year tenure at the Firm, Lynn was chair of the Wills, Trusts and Estates practice section.

Lynn D. Bird, senior member of the firm’s Management Committee said this about Lynn, "Lynn Kuykendall has been an inspirational leader and mentor for the firm for over 30 years. He has been a positive influence on his co-workers and literally hundreds of clients. He will be sorely missed."

Mr. Kuykendall is a member of the Boulder, Colorado and American Bar Associations and has served on the board of governors of the Colorado Bar Association. He is a past chair of the Boulder County Bar Association tax, estate planning and probate section and is a former president of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council. He has been a lecturer at the Colorado Practice Institute for Colorado lawyers on estate planning and has been a frequent presenter at will and trust seminars for various organizations and entities. He has served as a member of the Charitable Estate Planning Council of the Boulder Community Hospital Foundation, the University of Colorado Law Alumni Board as well as a planned giving committee of the University of Colorado Foundation.

He received his bachelor's degree in 1965 from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Following graduation, Mr. Kuykendall entered the University of Colorado Law School where he received his law degree in 1968. During law school, he participated in the Rothgerber Moot Court Competition, was president of the senior class, and served as chairman of the CU Law School Legal Aid Clinic.

Following graduation from law school, Mr. Kuykendall was commissioned into the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps. After attending the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, Mr. Kuykendall served as courts martial trial and defense counsel at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Waukegan, Illinois, and then was assistant staff judge advocate at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, California, where he served as a military judge and legal assistance officer. While serving in the Navy, he received the Distinguished Service Medal.

Mr. Kuykendall is a member and past president of the Boulder Rotary Club. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, where he has served as an elder and trustee and has been active on the Young Life Committee for Boulder. He has been nominated by his peers numerous times for Best Lawyers and Superlawyers in the State of Colorado. Mr. Kuykendall was also awarded the AXLEY-BAUGH Distinguished Service Award presented by the Boulder County Estate Planning Council November 2008.
