Heather Gwinn, an associate in Caplan and Earnest’s litigation group, has a practice representing and advising companies and organizations in the public and private sectors on a wide variety of matters including: Policy development; employee relations; constitutional and civil rights claims. She has successfully handled multiple aspects of litigation and achieved favorable decisions in federal and state courts.
Ms. Gwinn earned her law degree from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law in 2005, where she served as Symposium Editor of the Denver Law Review, was a member of the Moot Court Board, and President of the Student Bar Association. Following graduation, Ms. Gwinn received a fellowship and worked for the State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program, representing children in foster care. After completing her fellowship, Ms. Gwinn began practicing law in the private sector at a well-respected labor and employment boutique.
As a labor and employment attorney, she advised and represented management, including several Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies, in all aspects of employee relations, including investigating and defending against Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act claims and defending and prosecuting breach of contract and restrictive covenant claims. She is admitted to practice in Florida and Tennessee and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Ms. Gwinn received her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University in 2000. Prior to law school she worked in mental health services providing direct care to children and adolescents in residential and in-patient treatment facilities in Colorado.
Ms. Gwinn lives in Denver with her fiance, Dan, and his daughter. Outside the office she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and traveling.
