On March 1, Doug Stevens, special counsel in Caplan & Earnest’s litigation section, along with former Caplan & Earnest law clerk Andrea Maciejewski, will be featured presenters at the Colorado Dude and Guest Ranch Association and Colorado Agritourism Association’s joint spring convention at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
The topic of the presentation, “Privacy From Across the Pond,” will address the ins and outs of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (commonly known as the EU GDPR), the risk management issues it presents, and how to protect your business.
For those in the hospitality industry, the GDPR raises a number of questions. Stevens and Maciejewski’s presentation will address many of those concerns, including: what and whom the GDPR protects; which American businesses are subject to the GDPR; and how those businesses can comply with the GDPR while still providing services to European Union residents.
“Customers expect their information to be treated with respect and fairness,” Stevens said. “The law is simply giving them a means to enforce these expectations.”
